![]() ![]() Be ok when a bus or train has technical issues Allotting enough time to go from point a to point b When you go car free, here are the things you have to be ok with: Having a car is always going to be faster even in so-called tranist utopias. This is true in every city and I don’t understand why people think it isn’t. That’s one of the things you have to learn to adjust to: using transit as your primary means of transportation takes a long time. As most of have said living near a train station is your best bet, but the bus isn’t bad. Lol at all the people that say it can’t be done when it totally could. My job provided me with free parking, so yup, I always drove. Even during the worst rush hour traffic, is was faster for me to drive than take the train - and that is if the train was operating on schedule, which it rarely was (that line probably had a major outage once a day). My old home in Boston and my job were within 5 minutes walking of the same subway line (so no train changes), and were a little under 10 miles away from each other. In Boston, the T was utterly unusable for those purposes, dreadfully slow and too consistently unreliable to rely on it to getting you anywhere on time. I live a few blocks from a Marta stop, and take it to the airport all of the time. Sure the rail coverage is sparse, but if your origin and destination is near a stop, the service is phenomenal. Check MARTA fare programs for more special fare options.Coming from a city with "good" public transportation (Boston) I don't understand the hate for Marta. Breeze cards are $2 and may be reloaded for up to three years, whereas Breeze tickets are $1 for single-use only.
