Answer Song: Dolby intentionally invoked this trope with the remix "Airhead's Revenge".Different album, but "I've been all around this flat old Earth" from "That's Why People Fall In Love" on "Astronauts & Heretics"."All I want is the keys to your Ferrari / because Aliens Ate My Buick".at least until he suddenly thinks of his mother the moment he finishes. #Radio silence thomas dolby licenseĪrtistic License Politics: The song "I Love You Goodbye" includes the line "The county sheriff had a harelip / Louisiana's pride and joy." The state of Louisiana is divided into parishes, not counties. The song features a female rapper criticizing Dolby for spending money on women but having no charm, and a male rapper defending Dolby for being hardworking. ![]() Especially fine numbers include the amusing romp "Europa and the Pirate Twins" and the nostalgia-touched, just mysterious enough "One of Our Submarines.Bilingual Bonus/ Critical Research Failure: The latter of these two tropes is invoked in "Airhead" - after the line, "Quod Erat Demonstrandum, baby", a voice can be heard saying, "Oh! You speak French!", ignoring the fact that the statement is Latin. Dolby's melodies are sprightly without being annoyingly perky, his singing warm, and his overall performance a pleasant gem. If anything, The Golden Age of Wireless is the friendlier, peppier flip side of fellow Bowie obsessive Gary Numan's work, where the melancholy is gentle instead of harrowing. The most famous song from the reissued version of the album, it's a defiantly quirky, strange number that mixes its pop hooks with unusual keyboard melodies pitched very low and a recurrent spoken word interjection ("Science!") from guest vocalist/video star Magnus Pike. Talk to anyone who was the right age in the early '80s for both pop radio and the dawn of MTV, and "She Blinded Me with Science" will inevitably come up. ![]()
